“My clients are the experts in their own stories. My role is to walk alongside them, helping them find their voice and access the strengths and resources they already hold.”
Hi, I’m Joss, a psychotherapist, somatic sexologist and bodyworker, and the founder of Owl Eye Therapy. I support adults through psychotherapy, somatic therapy, sexological bodywork and trauma-informed bodywork, both in person and online.
My approach is warm, grounded, trauma-informed and collaborative. I believe each person is the expert in their own story, so our work is guided by your experiences, strengths, preferences and goals. There is no single approach to healing, and I draw on different therapeutic methods to create care that responds to your individual needs.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges and significant life transitions. I have a particular interest in supporting people healing from sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault, and helping them develop a greater sense of safety, choice and connection within their bodies.
My practice is inclusive, sex-positive and affirming of LGBTQIA+ people, all genders, bodies and relationship structures. I work with individuals and couples, including queer, polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous couples, around intimacy, sexuality, communication, relationships and sexual wellbeing.
Integrated Somatic Psychotherapy brings together counselling and body-based approaches such as mindfulness, movement and nervous system regulation. Depending on your needs, our work may also draw on EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, art therapy and other trauma-informed approaches.
I also offer Somatic Sexology and Sexological Bodywork, an embodied approach to sexual health and wellbeing that may incorporate education, movement, breathwork, mindfulness and consensual touch. These sessions are collaborative and guided by your boundaries, choices and personal goals.
My trauma-informed bodywork sessions support clients to reconnect with their bodies and explore consent, safety, needs and boundaries. I also offer Total Nourishment, an intuitive bodywork session combining massage, energy work, guided visualisation, ritual and restorative touch.
Much of my career has been spent working in not-for-profit organisations alongside victim-survivors of interpersonal violence, including childhood abuse, domestic violence and sexual violence. This experience has deeply shaped the way I work and the importance I place on safety, trust, curiosity, choice and genuine collaboration.
My role is to walk alongside you and help you access the insight, strengths and resources you already hold. I hope that through our work you feel seen and heard, more grounded and connected, and better equipped with practical tools that support long-term wellbeing.
I hold a Master of Counselling, postgraduate qualifications in Guidance Education and Counselling, and undergraduate qualifications in Education and Arts. My further training includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Sexological Bodywork, Somatic Therapy for Complex Trauma, Havening Techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Initiatic Art Therapy, Reiki, Restorative Yoga and Clinical Supervision. I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma of Somatics and Dance Movement Therapy.
I am a Clinical Member of PACFA and a member of the Somatic Sex Educators’ Association of Australasia. I am also registered as a WorkCover and Victims of Crime provider.
Through Owl Eye Therapy, I offer in-person appointments at Bellarine Wellness Co in Queenscliff and in Highton, as well as online psychotherapy and somatic sexology sessions.
